Requirements for Herkimer County Music Educators Association Grants

 

The Herkimer County Music Educators offers the following grants to music students in Herkimer County:

 

  1. $700 1st place grant
  2. $600 2nd place grant
  3. $400 3rd place grant
  4. $300 4th place grant

 

The highest winning music education applicant award will be called The Roberta (Bobbie) Dineed Music Education Memorial Scholarship.

 

Eligibility:

  1. Any student who is enrolled in a school sanctioned performing ensemble in one of the school districts in the Herkimer County Music Educators Associatoin in entilted to apply for a grant.
  2. All applicants must be planning on majoring in a music or music related field the following year.
  3. All applicants must complete an application and audition for an HCMEA grant.

 

 Requirements

  1. *Complete an Application for the Herkimer County Music Educators Grants.
  2. Prepare an audition to be performed in front of a panel of judges.
  3. Instrumentalits should prepare two contrasting movements from a NYSSMA level or similiar solo for thier main instrument
  4. Vocalists should prepare two contrasting selections from a NYSSMA level or similiar solo for thier specified voice.  Students majoring in Music Theatre should perform one classical piece and one Broadway selection.
  5. All applicants must perform with piano accompanist (unless performing an unaccompanied solo). Each applicant must provide her/her own accompanist for the audition.
  6. All applicants should bring two copies of thier selection to the audition.
  7. Any applicant bringing illegal photo copies will be disqualified for the grant.
  8. No popular music is permitted for the audition.

 

Calendar Timeline:

  1. All applicants must complete an application and send it to Mark Bunce, HCMEA Grant Chairperson, Ilion Junior-Senior High School, 1 Golden Bomber Drive, Ilion, New York 13357 by May 25, 2011.
  2. Auditions will be held Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Ilion Junior-Senior High School Vocal Music room.
